Finding the point where change occurred

Soul Spectrum is a technology project that converts the amount of variation arising in speech and text into data structures. It does not judge what is correct. It measures where, and by how much, something changed.

Why amount-of-variation

People are not understood in absolute values. The same speech rate is ordinary for one person and unusual for another. Compared against a group average, an individual's distinctive traits are misread as anomalous signals.

  1. The reference lies with the individual

Change carries meaning only against that person's own norm. A personal baseline is established first, through repeated measurement.

  2. The location of change is the information

Where it bent matters more than how high it rose. An inflection point lies not at a single moment but between one segment and the next.

  3. Measurement and interpretation are separated

That a change occurred, the data states. What that change means, a person judges.

One proposition — two products

CASP observes drift in speech; SLDA observes drift in text. The inputs differ but the question is the same. Both engines rest on one proposition: amount of change against a personal baseline.

CASP ENGINE

How has this person's manner of speaking changed against baseline? It measures pause, rhythm, energy, transition.

SLDA

How has this document's claim moved over time? It measures issue, expression intensity, attribution, premise collision.

Where this perspective came from

The structure of CASP originates from the founder's own cognitive style — an attempt to move observation that would otherwise stay in private perception into reproducible indicators. The founder's account of that background is on the Founder page.

About the founder
Much of misunderstanding begins not from what was said but from how it was said.
That variation is real, but as long as it stays in private perception it cannot serve as evidence. It must be moved into measurable indicators and reproducible protocols before it can be validated.
